Treatment Modalities / Therapy Types

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a deeply personal journey where you and I work one-on-one to explore your inner world, understand patterns, and heal from within. Sessions are uniquely tailored to your needs, pace, and goals.

In this space, you can:

  • Unpack life stressors, relationship dynamics, or emotional challenges

  • Work through past trauma or loss in a safe, supportive environment

  • Strengthen your identity, boundaries, and self-worth

  • Set goals that align with your values and vision for the future

Individual therapy supports a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, identity exploration, and major life transitions.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy is a space to strengthen your relationship by improving communication, rebuilding trust, and reconnecting with each other on a deeper level. Whether you're in crisis or simply looking to grow together, this work is collaborative and intentional.

In our sessions, you’ll learn to:

  • Communicate more effectively and feel heard

  • Navigate conflict in healthier ways

  • Rebuild intimacy and emotional connection

  • Address challenges like infidelity, resentment, parenting stress, or mental health issues affecting the relationship

Couples therapy supports romantic partnerships of all kinds and can be a preventative or restorative tool for long-term relationship health.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy

IFS is a transformative, evidence-based model that helps us understand the different “parts” of ourselves—each with their own feelings, needs, and roles. Often, these parts developed to protect us during painful or traumatic experiences.

Through IFS work, we:

  • Identify your inner parts (like the inner critic, wounded child, or protector)

  • Help them feel heard and understood without shame or judgment

  • Reconnect with your core Self—the compassionate, calm, curious center of who you are

IFS is especially helpful for individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, shame, self-sabotage, or internal conflict. This work brings deep emotional clarity and long-term healing from the inside out.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a structured, evidence-based approach rooted in the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It’s all about helping you recognize unhelpful patterns and replace them with more balanced and empowering ones.

In CBT, we’ll:

  • Identify negative or distorted thinking styles (like catastrophizing or overgeneralizing)

  • Practice reframing thoughts to support emotional well-being

  • Develop healthy coping skills and actionable strategies

  • Monitor progress through goal setting and reflection

CBT is highly effective for treating depression, anxiety, OCD, panic attacks, eating disorders, and more—and it’s a great fit if you like structure, tools, and measurable progress.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a skill-based therapy that blends acceptance and change. It's ideal for those who experience big emotions, struggle with impulsive behaviors, or have difficulty navigating relationships.

DBT focuses on four core skill areas:

  • Mindfulness – Building awareness of your inner and outer world

  • Distress Tolerance – Navigating crisis moments without making things worse

  • Emotion Regulation – Learning how to manage overwhelming emotions

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness – Strengthening communication and boundary-setting skills

DBT is especially effective for emotion dysregulation, self-harm, suicidal ideation, borderline personality disorder, and PTSD.

Solution-Focused Therapy

Solution-Focused Therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented approach that emphasizes your strengths, resources, and capacity to create meaningful change.

Rather than focusing on problems, we’ll:

  • Identify what’s already working and how to build on it

  • Define clear, realistic goals that reflect your hopes for the future

  • Use future-focused conversations to uncover small, doable steps forward

This modality is ideal for people looking for support with life decisions, motivation, anxiety, or mild depression, and is especially helpful when time or scope of therapy is limited.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative Therapy brings together elements from different therapeutic models to create a customized, whole-person approach. It reflects my belief that no single method fits everyone—and that true healing happens when therapy honors your unique identity, story, and needs.

In an integrative approach, we may blend:

  • Cognitive and behavioral techniques

  • Mindfulness and somatic awareness

  • Strength-based strategies and trauma-informed care

  • Relational and insight-based exploration

This approach is effective for complex trauma, mood disorders, identity exploration, life transitions, and holistic healing. It’s therapy that meets you exactly where you are—and grows with you.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is a mindfulness-based, values-driven therapy that helps you stop fighting your inner experiences and start building a life rooted in meaning and intention. Rather than trying to “get rid of” difficult thoughts or emotions, ACT teaches you how to accept what’s out of your control while committing to actions that align with your core values.

In ACT, you’ll learn to:

  • Practice psychological flexibility—the ability to stay present and open, even during emotional discomfort

  • Identify your personal values and use them as a compass for your decisions

  • Defuse from unhelpful thoughts that keep you stuck

  • Embrace mindfulness and self-compassion as tools for healing

ACT is especially powerful for treating anxiety, depression, chronic stress, trauma, OCD, substance use, and identity-related concerns. If you're seeking freedom from internal battles and ready to live a life that feels more on purpose, ACT offers a transformative path forward.

At Empower Well, your experience matters. We’re committed to providing not only high-quality care but also clarity, communication, and compassion every step of the way.
